An unusual shaped floor plan provides a surprizing amount of space.

We’ve said this before, all homes in this neighbourhood are different from one another. For this house, the pie-shaped design provides an amazing amount of space for the family. Unassuming at the front with a massive front deck, this house leads you into a kitchen and then spans out as you approach the back of the house.

“We knew when we bought the house that we wanted the kitchen and the bathrooms remodeled before we moved in. We needed a much more functional kitchen and preferred showering to bathing.”

Working with our contractor, we came up with a plan that increased the amount of storage space in the kitchen. We started with an all-white plan that visually expands the space, as well as building additional pantry space around the fridge. The Calacatta Caesar Stone in a waterfall edge on the island and for the counter tops provide a polished appearance and means all surfaces are prep spaces. The waterfall edge also resists scuffing in this high traffic area. Since the owners chose not to remove the kitchen closet, the island does not have seating space, that is provided at the countertop in front of the sink.

The owners also chose to paint out the spindles on the staircase to trim colour to provide further visual flow. A colour palette of soft greys and whites keeps the eye moving around the space. Strategically placing a mirror over the dining room table reflects light.

Because this is one of the larger pie shaped homes, the back patio is also one of the larger ones. In this case, the homeowners created a tropical oasis with palm trees that will be brought back in when the summer is over.

The second-floor family room is designed with the same colour palette as the main floor staying consistent throughout.

All bathrooms were renovated. On the second floor, the tub was swapped out for a large walk-in shower. For consistency, the same marble style was used in the shower on both the second and third floor. Larger vanities in a sleek modern style with consistent hardware and faucet style finish the bathroom renovations. For the master bath on the 3rd floor, a large soaker tub was installed in the master bath.

This style of house provides massive space. The master bedroom is an expansive 320 sq feet of space providing room for a sitting area as well as a king-sized bed. Even the two smaller bedrooms are over 200 sq ft each.
